“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the parent loves the child. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments” (1 John 5:1-2 NRS).
By our faith, we become children of God. Are you a faithful child who keeps in touch with their parent, who calls and sends word home about your trials and triumphs? Or do you neglect the relationship with your parent, striking out on your own without a thought for the parent who wants so desperately to remain a part of your life? Do you maintain the relationship that brought you life, or do you forsake it for your own wants and desires? Our heavenly Father desires nothing more than to walk beside you all of your days. God seeks to share in your joys and comfort you in your sorrow. When you are tired and need to retreat from the burdens of the world, God waits to welcome you to a place of sanctuary, so that you may be refreshed, renewed to continue your life’s journey. We need to be loved. Won’t you let God love you more fully and take God’s rightful place in your life?
